This view would make everyone envious! Only a few days to go, the Firemen Dakarteam will drive through the Saudi desert to lend a hand to rally participants along the way.

JANUARY 6, 2021 | The end of the Firemen’s Dakar Rally 2021

Unfortunately, our favorite team crashed yesterday! As they mentioned in their social media post, they rolled over four(!) times with their Iveco truck.

According to their road book they only needed to drive in a straight line for 7.2 kilometers. This obstacle wasn’t mentioned and resulted in a crash that caused considerable damage to the truck.

Richard, Jan, and Mark were transported by helicopter from the crash site to the medical center at the bivouac where they were further examined for possible injuries. They managed to successfully walk from the helicopter to the medical center on their own. In the light of the accident, this also means the end to their 2021 Dakar Rally adventure.  

Luckily, the team is doing well and ended their day together while eating some soup at the bivouac.
